We also have various outreach programs for local families who are fighting childhood cancer, such as events at Dell Children's Hospital and private events for the families. We provide Horse riding and therapy services to all children. We emphasize services to children with special needs and work with children with physical, emotional, behavioral and developmental issues. Each child is assisted individually. Horses provide an outlet for stressors, as well as encourage a bonding relationship for children with relationship issues.

Championship Hearts Foundation sponsors the Young Athlete Heart Screening Program. The purpose of this program is to check for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), a serious genetic heart condition that affects roughly one in 500 people. We offer this simple, painless, screening free of charge to Texas student athletes between the ages of 14-18.
Colin's Hope is an all-volunteer organization that creates and supports programs that aid in preventing children from drowning. Colin's Hope of saving children from drowning is being achieved through increased water safety awareness and improved standards throughout the community.

Con Mi MADRE is a college preparatory program that provides Hispanic female students and their mothers with the educational and social support needed to encourage academic and personal success. 6th-12th grade girls and their mothers benefit from conferences, campus meetings, college visits, tutoring, mentoring, counseling, financial assistance, and parental workshops.
Mission is "helping youth promote safe schools and safe communities". CARY’s Youth Violence Prevention Program is targeted to disciplinary students with assault, aggression and abuse incidents. Program consists of 12 month case management with our PeaceRox Program with Aggression Replacement Training. CARY also provides the Olweus Bully Prevention Program to teachers and students at three middle schools and the new Behavior Coaching Mentor Program for 100 youth transitioning from 8th grade to 9th grade at LBJ & Reagan High Schools.

Fresh Chefs Society empowers youth transitioning out of foster care with the skills they need to take charge of their eating lifestyle. Through the culinary arts, Fresh Chefs creates meaningful educational experiences by pairing youth with community chefs and restaurants. With our Apprenticeships, Guest Chefs, Home Cook Mentor, and iCook programs, we provide the tools necessary for youth to learn how to cook independently, healthily, and on a budget. With these programs, youth are given a chance to improve skills, create a network of support, and be a part of the community.

Studies show that at least one in five students has an uncorrected vision problem (Freebee, 2004) and one study indicated that 85% of academically or behaviorally at-risk students had vision problems that were either previously undetected or untreated (Johnson, Blair & Zaba, 2000). In Austin ISD alone, an average of 70% of students who fail the school-provided vision screening never report seeing an eye doctor within the school year.
Through a mobile vision clinic, Kids Vision for Life - Central Texas (KVFL) will provide free comprehensive vision services to students in 12 area school districts. Students will be able to complete an eye exam and receive high-quality name brand prescription lenses all during the regular school day at no cost to their parents. In addition, E3 Alliance and Seton Healthcare Family will conduct a three-year study to determine the impact of vision correction on academic performance and behavior.

Marathon High is a free, 8-month after school training program designed to give students who would not normally participate in standard interscholastic sports a chance to complete the Austin Marathon or Half Marathon. The program consists of three training days per week including two after-school runs and one Saturday run. Students participating in the program get the incredible opportunity to be coached by Olympic-level runners that are part of adidas/RogueAC. Our mission is to promote balanced, healthy lifestyles to young adults and show them that they can achieve anything they put their heart into, all by simply running. Throughout the program the students learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For example, students get to experience sustainable, organic agriculture through field trips to local farms and then learn the ease of preparing healthy meals at local kitchens.

The Missy Project is dedicated to Raising Awareness of Brain Aneurysm Disease in children through education, outreach and early detection research. After the sudden death of their 12 year old daughter Missy from a Brain Aneurysm, TMP started a Community Screening Program which provides Free MRI Screenings in Austin for those with a family history. It is the only Early Detection Screening Program in the country.

Sammy's House provides services for children who are medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Our mission is to give children the opportunities they need to reach their highest potential through therapy support, curriculum-based instruction, and child care. We support families by providing parent education, offering evening and weekend respite care, lending therapeutic equipment, and making referrals to community services. We serve 250 infants, toddlers, and young children per year with a wide variety of special needs, including cognitive and physical disabilities, developmental delays, and complex medical needs. Over a third of the children we serve come from low-income families, and many are at risk for child abuse. Our impact includes helping children with special needs gain greater independence, minimizing the cognitive decline associated with certain conditions, increasing school readiness through adaptive curricula, and improving the quality of life of caregivers raising children with special needs.
The Seedling Foundation supports public schools by encouraging and facilitating community involvement. Major program areas include a school-based mentoring program, which matches children of incarcerated parents with caring adults in the Austin area public schools, and campus beautification projects on public school campuses.
Shoes for Austin provides disadvantaged children with new athletic shoes as a reward for achieving educational and self-improvement goals. Shoes are awarded to children who improve school grades, learn about health and wellness, and improve reading skills. Shoes for Austin has donated more than 55,000 pairs of shoes since 2000.

STEM Tutoring is a nonprofit tutoring company based in Austin, TX with a mission to prepare economically disadvantaged, minority, and women students in low performing schools for success in science, technology, engineering, and math through creative and engaging tutoring experiences.
STEM Tutoring gives students at low performing schools in Austin free before and after school tutoring in science and math with highly-qualified instructors. We believe a key to bringing about systemic change in student performance in math and science is giving students opportunities to receive the extra time, attention, and guidance necessary for academic success.
But beyond in-class performance, STEM Tutoring wants to inspire students to pursue STEM careers by serving as a bridge that connects STEM professionals in Austin—scientists, engineers, professors, architects, computer engineers, doctors, bankers, etc.—with our students through volunteer tutoring/mentoring opportunities, as well as interactive STEM-based projects.
The Texas Book Festival celebrates authors and their contributions to the culture of literacy, ideas and the imagination. We work to instill a life long love of reading for Children in Title I schools. We also provide grants to Texas public libraries to help enhance book collections and develop literacy and technology programs.
The Texas Council is a non profit agency, led by volunteers from over 230 county and regional child welfare boards in the State. Our mission is simple: to meet the needs of children in Texas that cannot be met by the limited state funding of Child Protective Services.
Last year with the help of over 2000 volunteers and donors, we were able to contribute over 30 million dollars to fill in the gaps in services for kids in care. This included everything from glasses, underwear & socks, winter coats, hearing aids to drivers training, fees for summer school, Christmas & birthday presents, camps, and countless other needs that CPS cannot fill.
The Texas Network of Youth Services is dedicated to enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of community-based agencies serving youth and families in Texas. The network connects youth service staff and administrators, as well as youth and other youth advocates, on behalf of youth and their families who are in “at risk” situations.
